Young Star
Israeli-born actress Natalie Portman began her career in 1994. Only 29 years old, she has already won two Golden Globes and received an Academy Award nomination.
Beginnings
In Portman's first feature film role, she played beside French actor Jean Reno in the film Leon: The Professional.
Wisconsin Girl
Portman's turn as Ann August in the 1999 film Anywhere But Here (opposite Susan Sarandon, above) earned her a Golden Globe nomination for best performance in a supporting role.
Breakout Role
George Lucas' decision to cast Portman in the role of Queen Padmé Amidala introduced the actress to audiences around the world. She would play the part in the final three episodes of the Star Wars saga.
